The Gîte

La Channais sleeps 6 – 8 and sits within a charming group of traditional renovated Breton stone farm buildings. The house is fronted by a small walled garden from which the front door opens directly into the large living room with massive oak beamed ceiling, teak parquet floor and large fireplace (log burning). The living room also gives access to the rear garden.

The dining/kitchen is accessed from the living room through an arch in a natural stone wall. The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with hob, integrated oven, dishwasher and fridge. The dining area seats up to 10 and opens via French doors directly into the front garden. The kitchen / dining area also has an oak beamed ceiling. The floor is ceramic tiled.

A stone-stepped spiral staircase leads from the living room to the first floor hall, with French windows looking over the front garden. The hall floor is timber.

The main bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and other storage. It overlooks the front garden. It has an ensuite bathroom with bath/shower room; wc; wash hand basin; heated rail and shower point. Both bedroom and bathroom have attractive timber floors.

The second bedroom has two single beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers and overlooks the front garden. The floor is timber.

The third bedroom overlooks the rear garden. There are four bunk beds and ample storage.The main bathroom is entered off the upper hall and has bath / shower; wc; wash hand basin and vanity unit; shaver point and heated towel rail. The floor is amtico slate.

To the rear of the house is a large, sunny, sheltered courtyard for barbecues and al fresco eating. It contains the bike shed / tool shed (4 bikes are provided) which also houses the washing machine / tumble dryer and pulley.

To the other side of the courtyard is our log store (logs are included).A short flight of stone steps leads from the courtyard to the main garden which is almost totally private, with large lawn and extensive planting, a badminton set is stored in the bike shed. A barbecue is kept in the bike shed and there are a number of garden chairs and tables. There is off street parking for one car (or two smaller ones) and parking is also available on the street. The house has a rowing boat for the use of guests. The house is not, unfortunately, suitable for disabled guests.
